Favorite School Supplies

Besides Play Doh, my favorite school supply was the venerable Crayola Crayon.

Those simple sticks of colored wax would bring out the artist in me every time they touched paper.  I remember the excitement when I would get the “giant” 64 color box for my birthday or at Christmas.  The rainbow of colors in that box always brought a smile to my face.

As pencils have evolved from wood and lead to plastic and graphite and pens have gone from ink to gel, crayons have remain unchanged over the years – and they still are a favorite.  Sure, some names like Burnt Sienna have been retired, but the folks at Crayola have still managed to pump out millions of crayons each years destined to kids all over the world.

While the simple, basic crayon is still a school supply staple, Crayola has introduced new, moden day crayons such washable ones, crayons in a plastic barrel that sharpen themselves, ones with glitter and ones that actually write on fabric.

I’m  not sure about you, but I still like the plain, old fashioned original crayon.  But then again, I enjoy the simple things in life.  What’s your favorite school supply?  Let us know by commenting below.
